Tyrrell's Wines vineyards extend across the diverse terroirs of the Hunter Valley. The soil is primarily composed of sand and silt, providing excellent drainage and heat retention. climat The region's climate is warm and humid, with sunny summers and mild winters. These climatic conditions promote optimal grape ripening and contribute to the concentration of aromas. The age of the vines, often several decades, gives the wines remarkable complexity and depth.

Owner and history

Tyrrell's Wines is a family business, now run by the fifth generation of the Tyrrell family. Bruce Tyrrell, an iconic figure of the domaine, passed on his passion and expertise to his children, who carry on the family legacy with pride and determination. The Tyrrell family is deeply attached to the Hunter Valley and committed to producing quality wines that reflect the region's unique identity. Their commitment to sustainability and respect for the environment demonstrates their long-term vision for the future of the domaine.

Vinification and aging

The winemaking process for Johnnos Shiraz is carried out with the utmost care, respecting traditional methods. The grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness, then destemmed and crushed. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the aromas and freshness of the fruit. Extended maceration allows for the extraction of tannins and aromatic compounds. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for an unspecified period to refine its structure and impart subtle notes of vanilla and spice.
