The Mazis-Chambertin vineyard, situated on clay-limestone soil, benefits from a temperate climate ideal for growing Pinot Noir. The vines, some several decades old, are deeply rooted in an exceptionally rich terroir, where the influences of geology and microclimate combine to produce wines of great finesse. The southeast-facing slopes allow for optimal ripening of the grapes, giving the wine its unique character and aromatic complexity.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Domaine Joseph Drouhin is a meticulous art, blending tradition and innovation. The grapes are carefully hand-sorted before being destemmed. Fermentation takes place in wooden vats, allowing for gentle maceration that reveals the full richness of the fruit. Aging occurs in oak barrels, a percentage of which are new, for 14 to 18 months. This process refines the tannins and adds subtle woody notes, while preserving the authenticity of the terroir.
