The La Mondotte vineyard is established on clay-limestone soils, characteristic of the Saint-Émilion region. These mineral-rich soils allow the vines to draw their full essence, thus producing high-quality grapes. climat The region's temperate, maritime climate promotes optimal grape ripeness, creating ideal conditions for crafting exceptional wines. Rigorous vineyard management, with meticulous attention to each plot, ensures a true expression of the terroir in every bottle.

Owner and history

Today, La Mondotte is run by Count von Neipperg, a man whose passion for wine is palpable. The von Neipperg family was founded in the 12th century in Germany, in the northern valley of Württemberg. At that time, it encompassed some thirty villages and towns, including Schwaigern, which still houses the family estate today. Having lived in Saint-Emilion since 1983, Stephan von Neipperg and his wife Sigweis have been very involved in the life of the various wine estates, perpetuating this long family tradition.

Vinification and aging

The 4.5 hectares of La Mondotte, located on the clay-limestone plateau east of Saint-Emilion, constitute a veritable jewel box endowed with all the natural advantages conducive to the production of a Premier Cru. Grand Cru Classé.

The soils, composed of very silty clay, rest on a rocky subsoil. This shallow, nutrient-poor soil structure results in excellent water regulation and promotes deep root development for the vines. Natural drainage, combined with the exceptional sunshine the vineyard enjoys, creates a terroir characterized by early ripening. Each year, the grapes, particularly the Merlot, mature under the most favorable conditions.

This property, dating from the 19th century, has been certified as Organic Agriculture since 2014.
