The Clos Apalta vineyard is situated on steep, southwest-facing slopes of granite and clay-sand soil. It benefits from optimal sunshine and regular morning mists, ensuring slow and even ripening of the grapes. Some of the vines are over 80 years old and are cultivated biodynamically, fostering a vibrant ecosystem that respects the terroir. This complex soil, both well-drained and deep, imparts structure, tension, and freshness to the wine.

Owner and history

Founded by Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle, heiress to Grand Marnier, Casa Lapostolle is now passionately managed by Charles-Henri de Bournet. Drawing on their French heritage, the owners have successfully adapted cutting-edge winemaking techniques to the Chilean terroir. Their commitment to biodynamic agriculture, precision winemaking, and respect for the land has allowed Clos Apalta to become an iconic wine, consistently ranked among the world's finest.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Casa Lapostolle adheres to traditional methods: hand-harvesting, rigorous sorting, and fermentation in small wooden vats. Each plot is vinified separately to express the full complexity of the terroir.
The Clos Apalta 2018 was aged for 26 months in new French oak barrels, which gives it a silky texture, subtle woody aromas and great aging potential.
