The Côte-Rôtie vineyards stretch across steep slopes, where vines are cultivated in schist and granite soils. These poor but well-drained soils allow the roots to penetrate deeply, promoting optimal root development. The climate is Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers ideal for ripening the grapes. The vines, averaging 30 years old, benefit from a south-southeast exposure, maximizing sunshine and grape quality. This harmony between soil, climate, and Stéphane Ogier's expertise gives rise to wines of great expression.

    Owner and history

Stéphane Ogier, the estate's current owner, has successfully blended tradition and modernity. After working alongside his father, he took over the reins in the 1990s, bringing an innovative vision and a quest for excellence. Stéphane is renowned for his environmentally conscious approach, integrating sustainable practices into his vineyard management. Under his leadership, the estate has won numerous awards, solidifying its reputation in the wine world. His passion for Côte-Rôtie is evident in every bottle, reflecting his commitment to producing authentic, high-quality wines.

    Vinification and aging

The winemaking process for the 2019 Côte-Rôtie Montlis is carried out with meticulous care. The grapes are harvested by hand and then rigorously sorted to retain only the finest fruit. After partial destemming, alcoholic fermentation takes place in tanks, allowing for a gentle extraction of tannins. Aging occurs in oak barrels, some of which are new, to impart complexity and structure without masking the purity of the fruit. This aging process, which lasts approximately 18 months, allows the aromas to develop and the oak to integrate harmoniously. Each step is overseen with passion, guaranteeing a wine that truly reflects its terroir.
