The vineyard of Château Haut-Bages Libéral is situated on clay-gravel soils, typical of the Pauillac region. These lands, bathed by the climat Oceanic conditions allow for natural drainage and promote optimal grape ripening. domaine It benefits from a privileged exposure, allowing the vines to capture the sun throughout the day. Owner and history

THE château Haut-Bages Libéral, is a domaine A 30-hectare vineyard located in Pauillac, Gironde. Situated within the Pauillac AOC, it is classified fifth grand cru in the official classification of Bordeaux wines of 1855. The vineyard has been cultivated organically and biodynamically since 2007 on certain plots and the domaine obtained organic certification in 2019 and biodynamic certification in 2021. In 1983, the Merlaut-Villars family took over the domaine. Claire Villars now manages the property, as does the château Ferrière and the château La Gurgue.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Haut-Bages Libéral The wine is made with great care. The carefully selected grapes are vinified in stainless steel tanks to preserve their fruitiness. Malolactic fermentation takes place partly in barrels, adding further complexity to the wine. Aging occurs in oak barrels, some of which are new, allowing for the subtle integration of woody aromas while respecting the expression of the terroir. Each step is designed to reveal the potential of each vintage, ensuring a perfect balance between power and elegance.
