Chenin, the star grape variety of the estate
Ivan Lassonnat fell under the spell of the Anjou terroir and in particular its flagship grape variety: theCheninThis Savoyard native and Burgundy wine enthusiast appreciates the hierarchy of terroirs. This allows theCheninto reveal a whole range of expressions. The estate covers 24 hectares dedicated to Chenin Blanc on the finest terroirs of theAnjou Noir,inbiodynamics:
- 10 hectares on theGrand Cru Quarts-de-Chaumewith three historic localities of the appellation
- THECoteau des Treillesis one of its monopolies on a steep hillside
- THEClos des Ruchèresa monopoly on Savennières, planted on a hillside of purple schist
The domain is dedicated toCheninon exceptional micro-terroirs. This mosaic of terroirs is worked according to a plot-by-plot approach, similar to the Burgundy climats.
The wines of the estate
One grape variety for a multitude of expressions
Located in the heart of the'Anjou Noir,The estate offers a range of wines from the finest appellations in the region. The vineyards are spread across three main areas:Savennières, Quarts de Chaume and Coteaux de Layonwith a very nice range.
- Les Gaudretscomes from a collection of plots ofSavennièresFreshness and floral notes develop harmoniously on the palate.
- RoncerayThis area was originally a terroir for producing great sweet wines. The estate has chosen to cultivate the plot with dry white wines of impressive complexity and length.
- The Clos des Bonnes Blanchesis a place known for its delicate, taut and mineral wines: remarkable!
