Owner and history

Founded in 1725 by Abbot Gruaud, then taken over by his nephew, Chevalier de Larose, the Château Gruaud Larose honors its rank Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Julien. By taking back the reins of the Château Gruaud Larose In 1997, the Merlaut family undertook a profound restructuring of the vineyard, restoring the Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety to its former glory. Restoring balance to the ecosystem is a cornerstone that allows the terroir to fully express itself. Living organisms are thus placed at the heart of all their thinking, and the vineyard is managed by dedicated teams using environmentally friendly agricultural methods. The principles of biodynamic farming are implemented.

Vinification and aging

The winemaking of Sarget de Gruaud Larose 2025 is a meticulous process that respects tradition while incorporating modern techniques. The carefully selected grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve their fruitiness. Aging takes place in oak barrels, allowing the wine to develop subtle aromas and an elegant structure. This aging phase is crucial for the wine's harmony and complexity, giving it beautiful depth and longevity. Every step is designed to reveal the best of this exceptional terroir.
