The vineyard of Château La Violette is established on clay-gravel soils, typical of the Pomerol appellation. This exceptionally rich terroir allows the vines to flourish fully. The roots penetrate deep into these soils, capturing the minerals and nutrients necessary for the production of quality grapes. climat The temperate oceanic climate, with its hot summers and mild winters, promotes optimal ripening of the grapes, thus guaranteeing the authentic expression of the terroir in every bottle.

Owner and history

High on the famous Pomerol plateau, the Château LA VIOLETTE takes its name from an original and exquisite violet fragrance that has always captivated the most discerning palates… This property, a jewel of Pomerol with a 1.68-hectare vineyard, was acquired by VIGNOBLES PARENT in 2006, who already own the prestigious estate in the same appellation. Château THE GAY and the Château MONTVIEL. "Generous, full-bodied, with a delicate bouquet, of great finesse... and added to it, for the pleasure of the palate, a subtle fragrance reminiscent of violets." It was in these terms, at the end of the 19th century, that a famous Bordeaux wine taster described the wine he discovered at château. This praise inspired the owner to name his vintage, which has a long-standing reputation.

Vinification and aging

In the vineyard, made up of 4 plots located on the highest point of the plateau, not far from the château At Trotanoy and Le Pin, the work is very careful, with bud removal, green harvesting, leaf removal according to the age of the vines and each plot.

Since 2006, the grapes have been harvested two to three times. The grapes are hand-picked into crates to ensure the bunches remain pristine before being destemmed by hand by a team of 60 people. This ensures that only whole berries are used in the new barrels.

The winemaking process will be carried out directly in premium “Saury L'ÉCRIN” barrels. Cold maceration, coupled with manual punch-downs and barrel rotations, constitutes what is known as micro-vinification, or “whole vinification”.

Reused for aging, the barrels will hold the wine for 12 to 16 months.

The winemaking process is overseen by our cellar master, Florian Pesquier, and Philippe Thibault monitors the vineyards.
