“With his wife Julie, Baptiste Guinaudeau continues his parents’ work, passionately and meticulously managing this tiny, cult Pomerol estate. A fortunate quirk of nature has accumulated all the surrounding gravelly soils on this small plot of vines, itself divided into four smaller plots, allowing the Cabernet Franc to ripen like nowhere else. This grape variety judiciously makes up half of the vineyard, the other half being reserved for the sumptuous Merlot. Lafleur ages beautifully and has displayed flawless stylistic consistency in recent years. Here, human investment proves its aesthetic superiority over technological excess.”
