THE Domaine Camille Thiriet (often referred to as C. Thiriet House) is one of the most brilliant revelations of the contemporary Burgundian scene. Installed in Corgolin, at the exact border between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune, This domaine artisanal embodies the new guard of winemakers guided by precision. manual labor and a non-interventionist approach.
Founded by Camille Thiriet and her Canadian partner Matt Chittick, The project started in a tiny workshop attached to their house. before establishing itself in just a few vintages among the most sought-after labels by international lovers of pure and vibrant wines.
The Founders: Two Paths of Excellence
Camille Thiriet: Originally from Burgundy, having worked in communications and the wine trade, particularly within the Domaine from La Vougeraie and with Nicolas Potel. She brings an intimate knowledge of the vineyard and its network of winegrowers.
Matt Chittick: Certified oenologist, trained internationally (Australia, New Zealand), He was notably the head winemaker of Domaine de Bellene (Nicolas Potel) for several years before embarking on their own adventure.
THE domaine started in 2016 with a high-end micro-trade model (purchasing rigorously selected grapes on the vine and harvesting them themselves), supplemented over the years by the gradual acquisition of our own vineyards.
Winemaking Philosophy and Winemaking
The work is based on absolute craftsmanship. almost stripped of all heavy machinery:
In the vineyard: Biological management, respectful soil cultivation Controlled yields and manual harvesting in small, openwork crates to preserve the integrity of the berries.
Traditional pressing: One of the signatures of domaine is the use of a vertical wooden ratchet press, operated entirely by hand, allowing for slow extractions, delicate and with a very clear juice.
For the reds (Pinot Noir): Winemaking using whole bunches, either partial or total, depending on the terroir and the vintage. spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts, without inputs except for minimal sulfiting at bottling.Gentle infusion rather than forced extraction (very little punching down).
For white wines (Chardonnay, Aligoté): Direct barreling after light settling. Fermentation and aging in old French oak barrels (very little new wood) to preserve the mineral edge.
Wine Style
Camille Thiriet's wines are distinguished by a high tactile energy, freshness and a bright aromatic profile:
The reds: Floral digestible and fragrant (notes of fresh morello cherry, peony, bramble and white pepper conferred by the stem). The tannins are silky, airy and stretched by a beautiful salinity.
The whites: Of great integrity, chiseled, characterized by a saline minerality and a distinct calcareous grain, without woody makeup.
The Iconic Vintages
Bourgogne Aligoté “Du Ry”: One of the flagship vintages that built the reputation of domaine. An Aligoté of remarkable tension and complexity, salty and thirst-quenching.
Côte de Nuits-Villages "In the Mountains": Located in Corgoloin, This plot, situated on very exposed limestone soil, produces a vertical red color. precise and profound.
Vézelay “Champs Cervois”: A brilliant white wine that has helped to put the young Vézelay appellation back in the spotlight.
More confidential names: Volnay, Savigny-lès-Beaune, or even micro-cuvées from highly precise négociants, depending on the vintage.
