    The work of Pierre Lurton over the years

    THEDomaine Marjossebelongs to theLurton familyand covers 70 hectares in the commune of Grézillac, right in the heart of the appellationEntre-deux-MersDominique Lurton entrusted the management of 12 hectares of Château Marjosse to his son Pierre in 1990. Then, very quickly, another 34 hectares also came under his responsibility.

    Today, at the head of the entire estate,Pierre LurtonThe estate continues to develop and achieve remarkable results. Indeed, the vat room and winery have been completely renovated and expanded. More modern equipment has been installed, and a new cellar has been built. The majority of the work was carried out in the 2000s. The wines produced at Château Marjosse up to 2007 are well-made but rather simple.The revelation took place in the 2008 vintage.It marks the beginning of a new era for theChâteau MarjosseSince that date, the Château's wines have gained insplendor and eleganceTheir finesse is surprising for their name and intrigues critics.

    Vines tended with the utmost care

    THEChâteau MarjosseThe estate comprises 70 hectares of vineyards, of which 54 hectares are dedicated to red wine production and 16 hectares to white wine production. The terroir is of exceptional quality, and the vines grow on a 20 cm layer of limestone, which imparts considerable freshness and finesse to the wine. Deeper down, the soil is composed of clay and sand.

    The red grape varieties cultivated are:

    • Cabernet Sauvignon (11.5%),
    • Merlot (83%),
    • Cabernet Franc (3.5%)
    • Malbec (2%).

    For the production of Entre-deux-Mers white wine, we find:

    • Sauvignon Blanc (58%),
    • muscadelle (15%),
    • Sauvignon Gris (4%)
    • of semillon (23%).

    This very particular grape variety has won the hearts ofPierre Lurtonwho has preserved and adjusted it over the years. Indeed, the winemaker has carried out work in the vineyard aimed at planting new vines with ahigher planting densityOn average, the estate's vines are 35 years old and are maintained with great care.precision and meticulousnessin order to extract the very essence of the grape.

After mechanical harvesting, the different wines are vinified at controlled temperatures and then aged in French oak barrels, half of which are new.
