He had the château built, which would later bear his name. The château remained in the family until the French Revolution.

Jean-Baptiste de Saint-Exupéry, the great-grandfather of the famous author and aviator, acquired the estate in 1827. His name was added to that of Malescot, and that is how the château has been known to this day. A few years before the major classification of 1855, the château was sold to the Fourcade family; the property then comprised 165 hectares, 77 of which were dedicated to vineyards.

A quote from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry accompanies the château's name on the gate: "We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children." These words reflect the extreme care the winemakers take with their estate. They respect the vines and the environment at every stage of the winemaking process.
