Over the centuries, it belonged to some of the wealthiest and most influential families in France, including the Las Cases family. During the French Revolution, the original estate was divided into several parts. The vineyardLéoville Las CasesThe former heart of this property is then delimited. Comprising approximately 55 hectares, its terroir extends from the village ofSaint-Julienup to Château Latour. Today, Jean-Hubert Delon is the owner. His family acquired Léoville Las Cases at the end of the 19th century and has passed the estate down from generation to generation ever since. They have made it one of the most emblematic properties of the Saint-Julien appellation thanks to its extremely complex terroir. Vintage after vintage,Château Léoville Las Casesproduces increasingly fine and elegant wines.

With a terroir of exceptional complexity

Jean-Hubert Delon, current head ofChâteau Léoville Las Cases, is one of Bordeaux's most discerning connoisseurs of great French wines. He takes meticulous care of this terroir of exceptional complexity. With vines averaging 52 years old, his high-quality land boasts fabulous geological combinations. Indeed, the vineyard comprises Quaternary gravel as well as sandy and clay-gravel subsoils. Furthermore, the microclimate created by the proximity of the Gironde estuary protects the vines from harsh weather. As a result, they develop in optimal conditions, and the grapes reach ideal ripeness. The different grape varieties thus fully express their potential. The estate is comprised of 61%Cabernet Sauvignon21% ofMerlotand 16% ofCabernet FrancThis grape variety gives the Grand Vin its unique personality.
