Windmill

Moulin-à-Vent is one of the Beaujolais crus . This 655-hectare AOC straddles the communes of Chénas and Romanèche-Thorins. The appellation takes its name from an old windmill that overlooks the vineyard from a hill.
The vines draw their nutrients from a subsoil rich in minerals, producing an elegant wine with fine tannins and considerable aging potential. The floral and fruity aromas of its youth will develop into spicier notes with age.

Domaine Paul Janin et Fils

Domaine Paul Janin et Fils is an 8-hectare family estate located in Romanèche-Thorins . Here, viticulture is practiced sustainably and is increasingly moving towards organic methods: using compost, tilling the soil, etc. The majority of the vines are between 50 and 100 years old, and Eric Janin takes great care of them. Some plots were purchased by his grandfather and then his father: today, he is writing the estate's history while respecting its heritage.

Domaine Paul Janin et Fils produces a white and a red Beaujolais-Villages , and three Moulin-à-Vent wines. “Les Greneriers” and “Héritage du Tremblay” are made exclusively from grapes grown in Romanèche-Thorins. These are powerful and structured wines. “ Vignes du Tremblay, ” on the other hand, also comes from grapes grown in Chénas and is more refined.

Louis Jadot - Château des Jacques

Château des Jacques has been owned by Maison Louis Jadot since 1996. The 88 hectares of vines, mostly planted with Gamay and a small portion with Chardonnay , are spread across six appellations . Cyril Chirouze manages them using sustainable farming practices, with care tailored to each plot. The wines are then aged for ten months in oak barrels in the 17th-century cellar. They will need at least two years to open up and reveal the generosity and finesse of their varietal character .

Château des Jacques produces 7 red wines in the Moulin-à-Vent AOC. The first, which bears the name of the appellation, is a blend of terroirs . Its siblings come from specific parcels which give them their names: “Champ de Cour”, “Clos de Rochegrès”, “Clos des Thorins”, “Clos du Grand Carquelin”, “La Roche” and “La Rochelle”.
